We’re all goal-oriented, even if we don’t realized. It’s just that some of us don’t have goals that really matter, or they are so far-reaching and ambiguous that there is nothing to hold them up against. I’ve been guilty of doing that as much as anybody. So when Rebecca Thorman IM’d me about a new project she’s started, the Monthly Goal Meet-Up, it caught my attention. With my pending return to full-time academia and all that comes with it, I think it would be a worthwhile venture. So here goes.
September Career/Life Goals
- Finish 3 more pieces for online portfolio
- Set up separate savings account for return to full-time school
- Set up DBA for consulting / IT business
So let’s see what happens.
I am a freelance web monkey in St. Petersburg, FL. I am heavily tattoo'd, I sleep too little, I drink too much coffee, smoke entirely too many cigarettes, but otherwise do my thing. I have a fantastic wife and a rock & roll son.

Thanks, Norcross! I like the succinct goals and am looking forward to checking back in at the end of the month. In particular to see the additional pieces for the online portfolio
Hi, I am following you from Rebecca’s blog. Wishing you much success with your goals and I look forward to sharing encouraging and inspirational words throughout the month. Best of success!
Hey you, great list! What’s DBA? And when can we see the online portfolio?
DBA = Doing Business As. Basically, it’s so I can accept payment for IT work under my ‘business’ name. I’ve been meaning to do it for over a year, but kept putting it off. Someone paid me with a check in that name, so it lit a fire under me to finally get it done!
And my portfolio can be seen here: http://andrewnorcross.com
Great ideas!
A strong suggestion that you get as much professional advice on your DBA as possible. I really screwed up my registration last year and will likely have to pay out big/get audited next year around because of it. I’m sure you’re smarter than I am in regards to business sense, but just a heads up
